Discover with us the most important archaeological sites in Saydnaya and Maaloula

Our journey begins with a visit to Our Lady of Saydnaya Monastery, one of the most important and oldest monasteries in the Christian world. It houses the famous icon of the Virgin Mary and is distinguished by its elevated location and panoramic view overlooking the town.

The second stop is Deir al-Shirubim in Saydnaya, a relatively modern monastery known for its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful mountain views, making it an ideal place for contemplation and reflection.

We then head to the town of Maaloula, about 15 km away, to visit Mar Taqla Monastery, a monastery carved into the rock dating back to the first century AD. It includes the sacred cave of Saint Thecla and a holy spring.

The next destination is Mar Sarkis and Bacchus Monastery, a church dating back to the fourth century AD, built on top of an ancient pagan temple and considered an outstanding example of early Byzantine architecture.

The final stop is Al-Faj (The Gorge), a natural rocky passage carved through the mountain.
